

COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Joseph Thomas Golden, 84, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Matthews. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Golden completed his race on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Dorn VA Medical Center. Born on March 8, 1932 in Wilmington, Delaware, he was a son of the late Joseph Thomas Golden, Sr. and Margaret Beatrice Krauss Golden.
Joseph retired from Sun Refining and Marketing (Sunoco) with over 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active and dedicated member of Word of Faith Christian Center for many years. Joseph was a member of the Orangeburg Primetime Players and was an avid woodworker.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Ellen Scott Golden. Surviving are his son, Michael J. Golden (Lisa) of Columbia; daughters, Carolyn G. Valledares of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Debbie G. Bolen (Roger) of St. Matthews; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Magnolia’s of Santee, C.M. Tucker, and V.A. Warrior’s Walk of Columbia for the excellent care he received.
