Joseph Michael Medich

COLUMBIA - A reception celebrating the life of Joseph Michael Medich will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Woodhill Estate located at Pelham Drive and Arborwood Road. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Medich died Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Born in South Bend, Ind., he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Prica Medich. He graduated from Indiana University in 1958 with an A.B.; served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1953; and retired from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1984. He was an avid sports enthusiast following Hoosier Basketball, Washington Redskins and the Chicago Cubs. Mr. Medich was a member of Fort Jackson Golf Course and the Golf Collectors Society. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Fluhr Medich; children, William Medich (Julie) of Sullivan’s Island, S.C., Christopher Medich (Lynn) of Hamilton, New Zealand; grandchildren, Lauren and Emily of Sullivan’s Island, S.C., William Zachary and Alexandra of Hamilton, New Zealand; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Eli, Robert, William, Michael and Bud Medich; sisters, Dorothy Delich, Mildred Kisil, Helen Mitrovich and Violet Rodich.
