COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Loraine May Young, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Young passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Born in Ft. Limon, Costa Rica, she was a daughter of the late Charles Morris and Norma Claire Smith Warner. She was a graduate of New Testament Church of God Christian College in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Young pastored in Germany, El Paso, Texas, Tacoma, Washington, and to Columbia, SC to start a church. She was a member of Fuente de Vida. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing.
Surviving are her husband, Alfonso R. Young of Columbia, SC; son, Mike Young (Starr) of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, James Young, Joshua Young, and Emma Young; sister, Susan Hunt; and brothers, Rev. Rogelio Smith, and David Smith.
