

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Lucille Earl Garrett, 95, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Crescent Hill Baptist Church with burial in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Lucille died Monday, March 16, 2026. Born in Charlotte, NC, on April 21, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Julius and Nettie Bivens Earl and was the fourth of ten siblings that grew up on a farm in Casar, NC. She attended Columbia Commercial College in Columbia, SC after high school and worked as an administrator for Southern Bell / BellSouth until her retirement in 1990. She was an active member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was involved in mission work. She also volunteered with the international student mission at the University of South Carolina and hosted many of them in her home. Her love of travel took her to every state in the US and trips all over the world for mission work and pleasure. She was a devoted Christian who loved her family and made her friends feel like family. She worked hard and loved big and will be sorely missed by all.
Surviving are her son, Billy W. Garrett, Jr. of Summerville, SC; daughter, Pamela Ann Garrett of Peachtree City, GA; brothers, Harold Earl of Casar, NC, Tryon Earl of Roswell, GA, Larry Earl of Treasure Island, FL, and Wayne Earl of Biloxi, MS; sister, Ethel Cook of Casar, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Billie W. Garrett; brothers, J.C. Earl and Dwight Earl; and sisters, Judith Cook and Betty Cook.
