
Mable Graves Cooper John, 65, of Eastover, S.C., passed away on March 15, 2022. Family and friends will gather at Hickory Top Farm, Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., 725 Piney Branch Rd. Eastover, S.C.
Mable was the daughter of the late Frances Padgett John and Victor Breeden John, Jr. of Columbia, S.C. She graduated from Hammond Academy and Sweet Briar College. Mable’s career as a riding instructor began in the Charleston area at Stono River Stable Farm and Middleton Place Equestrian Center.
After moving to Columbia, she began teaching at Hickory Top Farm, where she instilled the love of horses and the outdoors to many Columbia children. Mable’s determination and strong character enabled her to fulfill her dream of establishing an Equestrian Center at Hickory Top. She also spent many wonderful summers at Rockbrook Camp in Brevard, N.C. as manager of the camp’s riding program and horses.
She is survived by brothers, Floyd Spencer John, Victor Breeden John, III, (Ann) sister, Frances John Bryan (John) and six nieces and nephews.
