Marian Johnson McKee

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Marian Johnson McKee, 72, will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, January 12, 2026 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. McKee passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Johnson and Evangeline Figetakis Johnson. A graduate of Dreher High School, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Marian stayed home to raise her three daughters and later became an instructor in the Pre-Health Certificate Program at Midlands Technical College.

She was a talented piano player and writer. Marian was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time at the beach. Her love for animals was evident, as she adopted many who needed a home throughout the years.

She was a passionate person with strong faith. Most of all, she loved her daughters and grandchildren.

Surviving are her Leah Wicevic (Vito), Kristen McKee, and Mandy McKee, all of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren; and nephew, John Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, William Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Mission.
