Marjorie “Marje” Warner

Marje graduated from Central College, Pella, Iowa, with a degree in Home Economics in 1958. She taught school in Delmar, Iowa for one year and then was a home economist with the Extension Service of Iowa State University for 13 years in Fairfield and Waterloo, Iowa. She met and married Phil Warner in Waterloo. They moved to Ft. Dodge in 1972. She continued to work part time for the State Extension Service as well as conducting cooking demonstrations and classes and served as Executive Director of the Iowa Home Economics Association. Upon their move to Janesville, Wisconsin, she taught classes in adult education. After moving to Florence. South Carolina, in 1981, she taught microwave classes and served as the Resource Coordinator for New Harmony Presbytery. They moved to Columbia, South Carolina in 1992, and she was a realtor until retiring in 2009.

Over the years Marje was active in many civic organizations, but her major commitments were to her church and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, deacon, and was active in the Presbyterian Women, serving as treasurer for over 20 years, as well as serving on many other committees. Marje served as the President of the State South Carolina P.E.O. Chapter in 1991-1992. She was a member of Chapter C in Columbia at the time of her death.

Marje was predeceased in death by her husband, Phil, her parents, her sisters, Helen and Margaret, and niece, Elizabeth. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her two honorary grandchildren, Ansley and Sierra, and their parents, Lish and Kel Jansen. The Jansens became her family, and she was blessed to have their love and assistance over the years.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. A reception following the service will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Wildewood Downs Clubhouse, 731 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
