

CHAPIN - Funeral service for Michael “Mike” Glen Kirton, 51, of Chapin will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 19 from 6 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mike passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015. A graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and Liberty University, Mike was a mentor to his employees at McNair Law Firm, where he served as the Director of Information Technology for almost 20 years and was a leader within his field. A proud patriot, he served in the National Guard for 13 years and supported the Wounded Warrior Fund. He was active in the community, serving as a Big Brother in the Big Brother-Big Sister organization. Mike was an avid Gamecock fan who attended every home game. Mike was a loving father whose family was the center of his life. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, as well as his generosity. Surviving are his wife, Amanda Ramsing Kirton; mother, Margaret Kirton of Okatie; daughters, Emily Taylor Kirton, Madeline Glenn Kirton all of Columbia; step-daughter, McKinnon Blair Porter of Columbia; sister, Patty Sheffield of Okatie; brother-in-law, Steve Sheffield; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thedis Jerome Kirton.
