Murray Clifton Hedgepath, Jr.

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Murray Clifton Hedgepath, Jr., 65, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with inurnment in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Cliff passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023. He was an Audit Manager with the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Cliff started working for DHEC in April 2017. He was responsible for planning, supervising, and conducting various internal audits. Cliff earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics from Wofford College in 1980. He started his professional career after college working as a Staff Accountant for various CPA firms and became a CPA in 1992. Cliff started his career in State government in December 1993, working as an Audit Team Leader SC Department of Social Services (DSS). After that, he worked for DHEC and DSS as an Audit Supervisor. Cliff is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, SC State Internal Auditors Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and Government Finance Officers Association of SC. He previously served on the Executive Board of the SC State Internal Auditors Association as the Peer Review Chairman.

Cliff loved and was very dedicated to his family and friends. He was a lover of politics, sports, and history. Cliff had a good sense of humor and always loved to laugh.

Surviving are his uncle, Dr. Donald W. Eaddy (Lola) of Raleigh, NC; aunts, Mildred Hedgepath Monts of Greenville, SC and Doris Hedgepath Myfelt of Lexington, KY; and many cousins, friends, and coworkers.
