Her grandmother was a Sicilian immigrant, a single mother of five daughters, including Nancy’s own mother. From this tight knit group, Nancy embraced the maternal model of loving unconditionally and holding firm, familial bonds.
Nancy went to nursing school and later obtained a Masters of Social Work. She began her professional life in Denver, Colorado at St. Joseph's Hospital where she met her husband, Tan Platt who pre-deceased her. They had an enviable romance and happy partnership, and over the years enjoyed traveling to many worldwide destinations.
Tan and Nancy eventually made their home in Columbia, SC. Nancy devoted joyous hours doing volunteer work with the Lady's Auxiliary to benefit the Free Medical Clinic as well as acting in local theater. She was very active with the board of Workshop Theater. Tan and Nancy were avid supporters of local community theaters.
Nancy is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Platt and James Platt. James has four children, Anna Josephine, Emeline Christine, Boaz Jackson and Elias James.
Nancy's life was full and very happy. She was loved by many and never said an unkind word.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the organizations she supported.
