COLUMBIA Olivia Williams Burroughs, 81, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, following a short illness. Born in Greenwood, S.C. to John Edgar Williams Sr. and Louise Gantt Williams, she attended Greenwood High School. She was predeceased by a sister, Edith Louise Williams. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas C. Burroughs; a daughter, Shelah Burroughs Strange; and granddaughter, Sarah Alexandra Strange, all of Columbia; a sister, Peggy Williams Sills, also of Columbia; a sister, Elizabeth Williams Rembert of Greenwood, S.C.; and a brother, John Edgar Williams Jr. of Ninety Six, S.C.
As the wife of a military officer, Olivia lived extensively in Europe, Hawaii and military posts in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, New Jersey, Kansas and Washington. In addition to her duties as a military wife, which she thoroughly enjoyed, Olivia operated her own business until her recent retirement. She was an avid reader and had a passion for solving crossword puzzles. Her beautiful spirit will be tremendously missed by her family and numerous close friends.
