Ray M. Kightlinger 94, died March 4, 2026. Born in Shreveport, LA on 10-23-1931 to parents Minnie and Earl Kightlinger. He was blessed to be the husband of Margaret Cowger for 66 years. They had three children, Gary (Lorraine), Steve (Karon) and Jana Spell, eight grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Neal Kightlinger (Ann) and a sister, Donna Huston. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was predeceased by his sisters Doris Wilson and Earlene Gaylord as well as son-in-law Ronnie Spell.
Ray was active in the Boy Scouts of America, being an Eagle, Scoutmaster and Council Board Member. Ray served in many capacities in The United Methodist Church. He earned an engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma and worked in the natural gas industry. Ray retired as an executive of South Carolina Pipeline Corp. in Columbia, SC.
Family visitation will be at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine Street, 5:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, March 8th. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery on Monday, March 9th at 11:00 o’ clock. In lieu of memorials, Ray requests you take a friend to lunch.
