Born May 10, 1951 in Columbia, he was the son of the late Otto Robert and Ollie M. Willis. Born with a passion for music, Bubba was an entertainer at heart. His career in music began in his teenage years, and included his music store, his entertainment agency, and his beloved band, “Good & Proper." His ability to share joy and touch lives through his incredible musical talent was just one of the ways Bubba loved big.
He served others every chance he got. He spent many years in an active role as a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and also developed a career in financial services that allowed him to make a difference for countless others. He was an avid golfer and started an annual golf weekend group in Hickory Knob. He never met a stranger, never missed an opportunity to plan a party, and never missed a chance to pull a practical joke. He had a sense of humor that was always sure to brighten your day and put a smile on your face. His warmth reflected his devotion to the Lord, as he consistently showed God’s love through the way he lived and served others.
Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Teresa Morris Willis; one daughter, Robin Huber (Brian); the two apples of his eye, grandchildren Tyler and Baylee Grace Huber; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Micki Morris; sister-in-law, Pam Meetze (Bubba); and many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bubba was predeceased by his four sisters, Dot Mathias, Judy Goodwin, Catherine Higdon, and Sandra Thompson. He was, for generations, the driving force in keeping his large extended family connected, and always laughing together.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3909 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC, with burial in Ridgeland Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
