Rodney Emmons Hungerford

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Rodney Emmons Hungerford, 96, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Wheat Street, with burial in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Mr. Hungerford died Monday, October 25, 2021. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was a son of the late Herbert Eugene Hungerford and Doris Humphrey Emmons Hungerford. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Ginny Hungerford; two sons, Douglas James Hungerford (Dru) of Hartsville, SC, and John Robert Hungerford (Vicki) of Camden, SC; daughter, Diane Lynn Engels (Bob, deceased) of Monroe, NC; brothers, Kenneth Orville Hungerford of W. Hartford, CT, and Charles Willson Hungerford (Nancy) of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Lauren Simmons (Mathew), Robert Engels (Kim), Kyle Engels, and Monica Rivera (Augi); and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six siblings, and two grandsons, Jeremiah Hungerford and Timothy Ward.
