
She was born in McColl, S.C. and was predeceased by her parents, John William Parrish and Evelyn Stubbs Parrish Smoot and her stepfather, Lawrence Everett Smoot, all of McColl, S.C.
She was a graduate of Winthrop College and also obtained her Master's degree there and taught school for many years before transferring to the State Department of Education where she worked and traveled until her retirement. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Alpha Delta Chapter South Carolina and served as past president, past chairman of Educational Services – Scholarship, as well as other committees.
She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and taught the 5 year olds Sunday School class for many years. She loved teaching the young children.
Survivors include many cousins from the Parrish and Stubbs families as well as many friends.
Visitation will be held at Boyce Chapel of First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Beaverdam Cemetery in McColl, S.C.
