Mr. Stephen A Gimbel

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Stephen “Steve” Alex Gimbel, 72, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with a burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Gimbel passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Born August 20, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Oscar and Louise Gimbel.

He graduated from Newberry College, and also received a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. He served in the Army National Guard. Steve worked for over 20 years at Ernst & Young CPA firm. He also worked as Chief Accountant for Jeffers McGill in Columbia.

Steve was an avid hunter, and was a proud member and former President of Jumping Run Hunting Club, in Eastover. He enjoyed cooking, working on crossword puzzles, and loved to travel. He loved watching baseball and soccer.

He will always be remembered for being a wonderful, loving father, grandfather, and friend by those who knew him best.

Surviving are his daughters, Jan Gimbel Webster (Joby), of Chapin and Melissa Gimbel Spearman (Taylor), of Elgin; and grandchildren, Will Webster, Alli Webster, and Tyler Spearman.
