

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Steven Wood Karr, 62, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mr. Karr went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021, surrounded by close family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland to the late Lieutenant Commander Joseph Thomas Karr (USN, Retired) and Betty Jo Ann Karr. Mr. Karr graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1976, while attending the University of South Carolina. He started his career of 44 years with the South Carolina Education Television Commission. After working in the print shop until its commencement, he accepted the position of Manager of Office Services until his retirement. After retirement, he continued to work part time in the same role. Mr. Karr was an avid baseball and University of South Carolina sports enthusiast as well as a diehard bowler. His most prized accomplishment was being able to bowl in the USBC Open numerous times with his brother, Tom and nephew, Brian. Mr. Karr was a dedicated and loving husband of 41 years. He was a loving grandfather, father and son and will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Donna; mother, Jo Ann Karr of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Tres and Jenna Reep of Elgin; sons, Kevin Karr of Columbia, Blake Karr of Columbia; grandchildren, Drake, Emilee, Elloree Reep of Elgin; brother, J. Thomas Karr Jr.(Sandy) of Braselton, Georgia. He was predeceased by his father, LCDR (Ret.) Joseph Thomas Karr; sister, Donna Lee Karr; and grandson Hunter Austin Reep.
