

COLUMBIA - Suzanne Gingrich Gochnaur, 81, of Columbia, passed away in her sleep at her home in Northeast Columbia on Wednesday afternoon, April 15, 2015, of complications from congestive heart failure. Her daughter Patty was at her side. Born on July 24, 1933, in her parents' home in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, she was the daughter of Jvene Jacob Gingrich, a long-time school teacher and principal, and Minna Selma Grein, a homemaker and real estate saleswoman. She was a 1951 graduate and class valedictorian from Lake Shore High School and a 1955 graduate of Michigan State University. She met her future husband there, Thomas LeRoy Gochnaur and they were married in 1955. Thomas passed away in January 2009. Mrs Gochnaur was the eldest of three children. She had two younger brothers, Jake Gingrich (wife Charlene), of Gladwin, Michigan, and John Gingrich (wife Maureen), of Macomb, Michigan. Mrs. Gochnaur leaves behind a son, Tim, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, of Columbia, and a daughter, Patricia Daso, of Columbia, and her husband, Dik Daso, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Tim's two children, Aaron William Gochnaur and Emily Deeann Gochnaur, both of Chapin; and Patty's two children, Natalie Tucker Barnes, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tyler Tucker, an Air Force captain, of Moore, Oklahoma, and his wife Meridith. Mrs. Gochnaur also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Avery, Kinley, and Caris, daughters of Ms Barnes and her husband, Air Force captain Troy Barnes, of Las Vegas, NV. The family will host a visitation at the Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, on Tuesday, April 21, followed by a service at 6 pm.
