Avis de décès de Thomas Southwood Linton Jr.
AUX SOINS DE

Dunbar Funeral Home (Devine)

Thomas Southwood Linton, Junior, son of Genevieve McLane Linton and Thomas Southwood Linton, Senior passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025. He was born November 1, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia and was raised in Columbia, South Carolina. Tommy was a 1968 graduate of The Citadel where he excelled in baseball and was selected to the All-Southern Conference Team. Immediately after graduation, he fulfilled his active duty training in the United States Army Reserve and became a life insurance agent in Columbia for The Equitable Assurance Company. He was promoted to district manager within three years and thereafter was appointed as the Agency Manager for the entire state of South Carolina, the youngest Agency General Manager in the Equitable nationwide organization. His leadership and recruitment of an outstanding team and their accomplishments led to numerous awards from The Equitable for the South Carolina Agency and its sales force.

Tommy was very active in civic affairs, especially in Columbia, and particularly devoted to The Citadel and his many lifelong friends who “wear the ring.” In 1982, he was selected as Citadel Alumnus of the Year by The Association of Citadel Men. For many years, he served as a Trustee of the Scholarship Fund which honors former Commandant Lt Col Thomas N. Courvousie, affectionately called The Boo in The Citadel community. Throughout his life Tommy was known for his extraordinary kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, courtesy and humility.

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by sister, Sharon McLane Linton Dunphy (Bill); and brothers, John Phillips Linton, Senior and Michael Kinsey Linton; six nieces and nephews; and nine grand-nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com
