Wilma Good Winslow, 79, passed away on January 14, 2026. Born on November 9, 1946, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to Karl and Josephine Good, Wilma spent the first part of her life in East Tennessee where she attended Jonesborough High School and East Tennessee State University. She moved her family to Columbia, South Carolina in 1972 where she lived for the rest of her life.
Inspired by working as a kindergarten assistant at St. Andrews Elementary (now Rhame Elementary), Wilma went back to school at Columbia College to earn her teaching certificate. With that, she was able to pursue her true calling – teaching children. Wilma served for more than 3 decades as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher in Richland School District One at Sandel Elementary (previously Seminole Road Elementary) and Pine Grove Elementary before retiring in 2011. To say that the children she taught meant the world to her would be an understatement.
Beyond the classroom, Wilma was a faithful member of Washington Street United Methodist Church for close to 50 years where she was part of the John Harper Sunday School class. With a beautiful smile, the kindest of hearts, a trusting disposition (almost to a fault), and a gentle spirit, Wilma spent her years in retirement doting on her beloved grandchildren and relishing the time she could spend talking to close friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents Karl and Josephine Good of Jonesborough, Tennessee; and her first husband, Richard Keith Rowe (father of Ricky). She is survived by her son, Richard K. Rowe II (Kristie) of Columbia; brother Steven Karl Good (Rebekah) of Chapin, SC; and brother Charles Edward Good (Sharon) of Jonesborough, TN.
She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Wyatt Rowe, Hayden Rowe, and Ellis Rowe, and remained very close to her niece and nephews – Matthew Good, David Good, Sarah Baldwin (children of Steven), and John Good, Karl Good (children of Charles).
The family will receive guests from 1:30-3:30pm on January 31, 2026, at Washington Street United Methodist Church. Wilma will be interred in the columbarium during a private ceremony at the church. The family has requested no flowers. Memorials may be made to Washington Street UMC, 1401 Washington Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
