Ingrid was the beloved wife of Allen Stanton. She is also survived by her son, Christopher Crandall, and his partner, Kate Musche; her granddaughters Gianna and Caroline Crandall, and her sister, Claudia Liebler.
Ingrid was born February 16, 1949, in Concord, NH, the second daughter of Horace and Brunhild “Bunny” Liebler. She graduated from Hopkinton High School and Harcum Junior College with a focus on the helping professions.
Ingrid began a career in human services working first in early childhood education and then for the NH Department of Housing and Homeless Services. Ingrid’s working life culminated in employment at Easterseals NH where she brought her deep commitment and life changing skills to young people with disabilities.
From an early age, Ingrid had a tender, caring heart for people and for animals, especially those needing special care. She had a horse, rabbits, dogs and, most recently, a cat named Oliver. Ingrid also excelled at crafts and loved making gifts for family and friends.
Ingrid and Al shared a life-long love of New Hampshire. Together, they had many adventures during their 33 years of marriage roaming the state from the coast to the White Mountains to visiting Allen’s family “up north.”
From the day he was born, Ingrid’s son Christopher was the “apple of her eye.” Years later when Christopher brought his friend Kate home, she became the daughter Ingrid wanted. When her granddaughters Gianna and Caroline were born, Ingrid was overjoyed.
Despite her love for New Hampshire and staying close to home, Ingrid had an adventurous streak. She visited her sister Claudia in Istanbul, Turkey, where she was a Peace Corps volunteer; spent several summers visiting her grandparents in Hamburg, Germany, with her family; and took trips to Washington D.C., Minnesota, and Portugal.
Ironically, in 2016 while serving others with disabilities at Easterseals, Ingrid suffered the first of three strokes. Since then, she needed a wheelchair and had other physical limitations ending life, as she had known it. What never ended, however, were her love of family and friends, a sense of fairness and integrity, and an appreciation of the beauty around her.
Ingrid was a fighter determined to live life on her own terms and to find ways, no matter how challenging, to continue activities that she enjoyed—making crafts and gifts; cooking delicious meals; taking car trips with Allen; and spending time with Chris, Kate, Gia and Cari.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ingrid’s memory may be made to Easterseals New Hampshire, Attn: Development Dept., 555 Auburn Street, Manchester, NH 03103, or by phone: 800-870-8728.
