
Karol, known to most people as Kay, was born December 17, 1948, the eldest of two children to Carroll and Edith (Hall) French. She was a resident of Bow for most of her life. She attended elementary school in Bow and graduated from Concord High in 1966. She married Ronald Higgins in 1968.
Kay worked for New England Telephone Company for 21 years and finished her work history employed 18 years by Pitco Friator.
She had a beautiful soprano voice and qualified for the All-State Choir while attending CHS. In later years she sang with the Pitchpipers Barbershop Chorus. Family and friends enjoyed delicious meals through the years thanks to the wonderful cooking skills Kay shared with her husband. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her friends, traveling to places like Hawaii and Bermuda as well as locations in New England and along the east coast, viewing the wildlife that visited the pond in the back yard of the log cabin she helped to build, and spoiling the lucky cats she and Ron cared for through the years. During the last several months she enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominoes with her cousin Sharon White.
For 34 years, Kay was an active member of the Concord West Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was well known for her positive outlook, genuine smile, and for going out of her way to help others. She attended meetings at the 199 East Side Drive location where there will be a memorial service Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m.
She is predeceased by her parents, and she is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Ronald Higgins; sister, Anita and her husband, Richard Shaw of Bow; sister-in-law, Patricia and her husband Leslie Degreenia; her sister-in-law Ruth Higgins; nephew, Kyle and his wife, Autumn Shaw.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 7 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home chapel, 209 North Main Street in Concord. A celebration of Kay’s life will take place at the same location immediately following the visiting hours at 5:00 pm. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8 at the Evans Cemetery in Bow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Rd. Concord, NH.
