Born in Boston in 1931, Kenneth was the beloved son of Arthur and Agnes Stephens.
Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Andi Stephens, who passed away on January 17th, 2021, after 66 years of marriage; his brother George, sister Lois, and son Neil Bradford Stephens.
He is survived by his sons, Dana Stephens and fiancé Susan Evans of Concord, New Hampshire, and Richard Stephens and his wife Lisa of Westborough; his daughter-in-law, Catherine Stephens of Marlborough; and his grandson, Ken Luke Stephens and his wife Kendra and great granddaughter Selena of Franklin, New Hampshire. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend to many.
Ken and his twin brother, George, shared a special bond. They both worked in a hat shop, learning the craft from their father and grandfather. This tradition of craftsmanship was handed down from their grandfather in Italy, to their father, and then to Ken and George. It instilled in them a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for their family heritage.
After graduating from Northeastern University, Ken and George both served their country honorably, with Ken becoming a lieutenant in the Army, stationed in Germany. Following his military service, Ken embarked on a fulfilling career at Raytheon, where he worked as a personnel industrial relations manager and wage analyst. He retired from Raytheon in 1991 after 39 years of service. His colleagues remember him for his dedication, integrity, and the significant contributions he made in his field.
After moving to Framingham, Ken and Andi welcomed three sons into their lives. Their eldest son, Dana, was born in Germany during Ken's military service. Upon returning to the United States, Ken and Andi welcomed their other two sons, Richard and Bradford, who were born in Framingham. Ken took great pride in raising his family in Framingham, where they created cherished memories and forged lasting bonds.
For his retirement, Ken and Andi moved to Falmouth, Massachusetts. He enjoyed spending time with his friends bowling, playing cards, skiing, and golfing. Ken and Andi were active members of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, where Ken volunteered his time as a guidance counselor. He also was involved in volunteering at Falmouth High School, mentoring students, and offering guidance and support. An avid gardener, Ken always had something in bloom in his garden. He took great pride in his garden, nurturing it with care and attention, and it brought him joy to see the beauty it created and its delight to others.
Ken was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and had the honor of making hats for prominent figures such as Jimmy Durante, James Michael Curley, and the crew of the USS Constitution. His attention to detail and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Together, Ken and Andi traveled all over the world, visiting St. Petersburg, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Spain, France, Vatican City, South America, Amsterdam, Australia, New Zealand, and Tahiti. Ken was proud to have his three sons and his grandson achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, carrying on the family legacy alongside Ken and George.
Ken will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He touched the lives of many with his warmth and unwavering support. Whether through his involvement in the community or his cherished time spent with loved ones, Ken’s legacy is one of love and compassion.
Services will be private, with interment at Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Boy Scouts of America, or to the Heritage Museum and Gardens, located at 67 Grove Street, Sandwich, MA 02563.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have offered support and care during this time.
