It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda C. Rosano (Mitchell) at the age of 77 on September 25 from a few months long illness. She was born September 23, 1946 to Donald and Edith (Jenkins) Mitchell in Pittsfield, NH. She grew up in Pittsfield and attended school there, graduating in 1964.
After graduating high school Linda worked as a Secretary for a number of organizations including Blue Cross and Blue Shield; Whittemore-Abelson; Metzger/McGuire; the State Dept. of Safety; and she retired in 2013 from the State Dept. of Information Technology. Linda also owned her own typing business and had been an Avon lady. A unique trait Linda possessed was knowing how to write short-hand and she also learned calligraphy later in life.
She married Francesco (Frank) Rosano on January 5, 1974 and welcomed their only child, Sherry 8 years later. Linda and Frank lived in the same neighborhood in Concord together until he entered a nursing home in 2018. She was very close to her neighbors and always loved to talk with them.
Linda was a fun loving, friendly, and energetic person and lived a very full life. In the 1970s she learned to fly and obtained her pilot license. She flew in and out of many airports in the State. She loved to garden and would spend hours outside tending her vegetables and flowers, including over a dozen rose bushes. She would make tomato sauce, grape jelly, and pickles; and freeze as many vegetables as she could. She loved to cook and hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas, cooking enough food for way more people than those who attended. She brought homemade treats each time she visited Frank, which was quite often. She loved to play games with family and attended weekly game nights with friends. Linda also attended weekly caregivers meetings where she obtained support for taking care of Frank with Alzheimer’s. She met many friends and helped others going through similar situations. In addition, she attended an aerobics group multiple times a week in East Concord. She was an avid bird watcher and participated in the annual Audubon bird count and was always excited to report a new bird visiting her feeders. Her main love was Long Sands Beach in York, Maine; spending many days there any time of year with family and friends. The past 2 years she would drive her Fiat convertible to the beach and had the best time in it with friends. Sadly, we wish she had many more years driving it. It reminded her of her 1968 Ford Mustang that she had as a young woman that she loved.
She was an active member of Saint Paul’s Church in Concord for over 50 years. She was on the Altar Guild and took great pride helping clean the church for the holidays and made many friends there. Linda had many organizations that she cared about and supported them through donations as she was able.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Concord Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for her care over the last 3 months.
She is survived by her husband, Frank of Boscawen of almost 50 years; daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Jonathan Bradstreet of Hopkinton; stepdaughter Imma Dogru of Manchester, stepson Frank Rosano of Manchester; 6 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; brother Ted Mitchell of Pittsfield; sister and brother-in-law Sandy Mitchell and Brent Valli of Wellfleet, MA; nephew and his wife Eric and Jennifer Mitchell of Barnstead; and numerous cousins. Even though Imma and Frank were step children of Linda she felt as if they were her own and they looked at her as their second mom. She is also survived by her beloved cats, Harry and Lloyd. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Steve Mitchell.
No services will be held; however, a celebration of life will be held at Saint Paul’s Church, 21 Centre Street in Concord on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, refreshments will be served. The family welcomes all who would like to pay their respects. With the current increase in COVID, if you have not received a recent booster shot the family requests that you wear a mask to keep everyone safe. Care has been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home of Concord, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda’s honor to the following organizations that were dear to her heart: Pope Memorial SPCA in Concord; NH Audubon Society; Alzheimer's Association; or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bennettfuneral.com for the Rosano family.
