

JoAnne was born on July 31, 1929, in Champaign, Illinois to Charles J. Norman and Nancy (Fenters) Norman. She graduated from the Burnham Nursing School in Champaign as a registered nurse and spent several years working in emergency room care.
After graduating from nursing school, she married Neil Douglas VanDyke to whom she was married to for 40 years. They raised two children, Steve and Paula, and lived in Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. They enjoyed playing golf and traveling to Europe, Israel, and all around the United States. They especially enjoyed traveling to visit their children and spend time with their grandchildren who they cherished dearly.
JoAnne moved to Bow, New Hampshire, 10 years ago to be closer to family and loved playing bridge with her bridge partners at White Rock Community. She also enjoyed spending time with her cat Emmie, Sunday dinners with her family, and the beautiful fall foliage of New Hampshire.
JoAnne is predeceased by her husband, Neil Douglas VanDyke and son, Brian Douglas VanDyke; her father, Charles Norman Sr., and mother, Nancy Fenters Norman; her three sisters, Miriam Lawson, Jen Thompson, and Marjorie Kaiser; and her brother Charles Norman Jr.
She is survived by her son, Steven VanDyke and daughter Paula Bailey; her grandchildren Thomas Patrick Bailey, Derek Strider Bailey, Elizabeth Anne VanDyke Smith, James Winn, and Kelly Winn; and her great grandchildren, Sampson and Dorothy Smith, Strider Neil and Thomas Jack Bailey, Oliver and Owen Winn, and Lochlan and Genevieve Winn. Her family was truly JoAnne’s greatest joy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation of JoAnne’s life, Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord. A commitment of her ashes will take place at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscowen, NH, at a later date where she will be joined with her beloved husband.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in the name of JoAnne VanDyke to support Concord Hospitial. Donations can be mailed to Concord Hospital Trust, 250 Pleasant Street, Concord or made online to ch-trust.org.
