Rachel Higgins

Rachel (Lanzo) Higgins of Concord, NH passed away on November 13, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Concord on October 14, 1923 to Antonio Lanzo and Michilina (Milo) Lanzo. She was married to Clayton A. Higgins, Jr at St. Peter's Church in Concord on November 26, 1949.

Rachel graduated from Concord High School and went on to receive an R.N. degree from the Elliot Hospital School of Nursing in Manchester. In 1975 she graduated from New England College in Henniker with a B.S. in Psychology/Sociology. She began her nursing career at Concord Hospital. In 1967 she began working as a school nurse in the Concord School District until her retirement.

Rachel had a passion for cooking, sewing, quilting, reading, and doing crossword puzzles to "keep her mind sharp", she would say. Family and friends looked forward to her baked goods, even requesting favorite recipes for her to bring to gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, Clayton A. Higgins, Jr, her daughters Peggy Higgins Moses (Russell) of Chesapeake, VA; Patricia Croteau (Tom) of Concord, NH, and Kathy Higgins-Consoli (Henry) of Manchester, NH; 8 grandchildren;15 great grandchildren; many nieces,nephews, and cousins.

A celebration Mass of her life will be held at Christ the King Parish (formally St. John's Church), 69 1/2 S. Main St. in Concord on Friday, November 18 at 10 am. Calling hours are November 17 from 6-8 PM at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street.
