He was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on July 16, 1924 a son of Vernon and Mabel (Berry) Rowell
He attended Cranston schools. Mr. Rowell was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
Following the military, he worked for the Alaskan Railroad for over twenty one years, retiring in 1975. He moved to Bow, along with his wife Frances shortly after.
He enjoyed going deep sea fishing with his father and making jellies and preserves.
He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Chase.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances H. Rowell of Bow; a son, William R. Rowell of Morrisville, VT; 2 daughters, Nancy L. Rowell of Wasilla, AK and Linda MacPherson of Ogden, UT ; 2 sisters, Dolly Kahlstrom of Derby VT and Verna Hurd of Rockport, TX; 2 grandchildren Logan and Jess MacPherson of UT and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
