

He was born in Concord, the son of Leon W. and Florence (Seavey) Towle. Richard served in the US Navy during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Richard L. Towle Insurance Agency in Concord where he worked as an Insurance Agent for 15 years. He was the founder of Boy Scout Troop #295 and also was Ward 8 Ward Clerk. For many years Richard was Chairman of the board of assessors for the city of Concord. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the USS Missouri Association and was a 32nd degree mason. He loved fishing, gardening, York Beach, Traveling and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Towle.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Constance S. (Smart) Towle of Concord, one son, Douglas Towle and his wife Margaret Callahan of Loudon, two daughters, Sandra Schwarz and her husband Allan of Concord and Shirley Rice and her husband Steve of Concord, six grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Corcoran, Debra Lewis and , Jo-An Concannon , Tara and Erick Towle and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 6PM to 8PM on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 12:30PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
