

CONCORD, NH – Robert N. Robie, (87) died on March 4, 2024 at Granite VNA Hospice House. Born in Nashua, NH on November 2, 1936, along with his twin brother William H. Robie, he was the son of Edison F. Robie and Nancy J. (Hurd) Robie. Raised in Pelham, NH; Dracut, MA and Derry Village, he was a 1954 graduate of Pinkerton Academy and later attended court reporting school in Boston, MA.
He was employed by the New Hampshire Air National Guard as a civil technician and also retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force and Air Guard and then attended the Stenotype Institute of Boston and became a certified court reporter in New Hampshire and had his own court reporting agency in Londonderry and Concord for over 35 years.
An avid golfer, he previously had held memberships at Derryfield, CC; Plausawa Valley CC; Canterbury Woods and Beaver Meadow CC. He was also president of the Men’s League at Plausawa Valley for a number of years, which was built into the largest men’s league in New Hampshire and with a membership of over 120 members. He was also very proud of the two holes-in-one he accomplished, one on the 8th hole in Derryfield and another on the 16th hole at Plausawa Valley.
He was a Master Mason of St. Mark’s Lodge in Derry, a Shriner belonging to the Bektash Temple in Concord, a York Rite member of St. George Consistory in Nashua and past secretary of the Nashua Shrine Club. He also held membership in the American Legion Post #9 in Derry and also Post #21 in Concord and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Concord Aerie #613. Bob made many friends through all these memberships and stayed in touch with many throughout his whole life.
Family members include his son; Douglas R. Robie of Auburn, NH and his wife Susan Robie and two granddaughters; Danielle Robie and Jennifer Robie. He was predeceased by his sister; Hazel Hamlett of Zepher Hills, FL; his brother; Gordon E. Robie of Stone Mt. Georgia; Walter H. Robie of Derry, and John E. Robie of Derry Village.
Bob always described himself as a “Proud American”!! He was proud that his dad moved the family to Dracut, MA during WWII so he could commute to the Boston Navy Yard to repair damaged ships during the war. He was proud of his mother who worked in a blanket factory at the same time in Dracut, MA providing them to the servicemen. He was proud of his oldest brother Gordon E. Robie who was an Army Air Force pilot flying “The Hump” from India to China during the war; the highest mountains in the world and a very dangerous mission. He was proud of his brother Walter who served on a Destroyer in the Pacific during the war; and he was proud of his next oldest brother John who also served in the Navy and his twin brother Bill who served in Coast Guard. He was also very proud of his sister Hazel who married a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy who served for many years. It was a family totally committed to the defense and the Armed Forces of the United States.
Bob stayed in touch with his many nephews and nieces of the family throughout his whole life and was always glad to hear from any of them. Bob also would like to say a parting farewell to three of his long-time golfing buddies, Jim, Dave and Rick. They know who they are. “So long, guys. I’ll be waiting on the first tee!!”
Services will be private at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
