Tim was born in Concord, New Hampshire on September 13, 1962 to Neale Joyce Bacon of Sutton Mills, NH and Richard Mather Bacon (deceased). Tim grew up on a beautiful Henniker farm with his brother James Justin Bacon (of York, Maine) and his sister Caroline Lansing Bacon (of Elkins NH). He graduated from Henniker High School, The University of New Hampshire with a degree in Marine Biology and Franklin Pierce College with degree in Computer Science. He and his wife, Sara Waddell Bacon, were married at their Hopkinton home on July 31, 2004.
Tim enjoyed his 30 year career as an Information Systems Professional. He started his career at Yankee Book Peddler, Inc., before holding positions at PC Connection, Inc., J Jill Group, and Talbot’s.
Tim had several Board affiliations during his career including: Book Industry Systems Advisory Committee, American Library Association, Association for Library Collections & Technical Services liaison to the AAP/ALCTS Joint Committee, and the Manhattan Associates PkMS Product Steering Committee. In addition he made conference presentations on: Manhattan Associates WMS Implementation Do’s and Don’ts, and Slot-It Implementation Overview.
During his stellar career, his technical and management experience in complex multi-platform, integrated environments was approached with a “do it right the first time” attitude. His experience culminated as a Managing Partner/Owner of BDP Technology Solutions, an Information Technology Consulting Company, for the last 9 years with his partners and dear friends Randy Dow and Mark Placy.
Tim’s heart and soul were completely devoted to his wife Sara and three children, Katrina Lynn Bacon, Kassandra Anne Bacon and Kaitlin Gail Dougherty. His greatest joys were to make them laugh and share his love of adventure and the great outdoors. He taught them to fish, hike and camp. Tim coached soccer teams and spent countless hours watching horse riding lessons and shows, softball, soccer, and lacrosse games—always with a “Good job” and a high five afterwards.
Tim loved planning family vacations, typically to warm places where play was an easy find and he could share his love of the ocean. Snorkeling, snuba-ing, parasailing, swimming with dolphins, he planned it all and created a lifetime of memories for his beloved family. Tim’s “get away from his girls” passion was scuba diving which he shared with his brother Jamie. Their adventures included diving wrecks, quarries, lakes and the ocean, there were stories of sunken airplanes, school buses, coral reefs, fish, seals and scallop diving.
In addition to Sara, Katrina, Kassandra, Kaitlin, his mom Neale, brother Jamie and sister Caroline, Tim is survived by his nephew Tyler James Bacon of Woodside, CA, niece Emily Neale Bacon of South Berwick Maine, and uncle and aunts, George & Eugenia Fayen of Hamden, CT and Russell & Hunter Burt of Virginia Beach VA and numerous cousins. Tim was predeceased by his father Richard Mather Bacon.
Calling hours will be at Bennett Funeral Home (209 N Main St) on Friday February 5 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Saturday February 6 at 1:00pm at the NH Audubon McLane Center in Concord NH (84 Silk Farm Rd).
Tim requested that any donations in his honor be made to two organizations that have special meaning to his family:
The Life is Good Kids Foundation, committed to helping kids heal from early childhood trauma, spreading optimism to those who truly need it the most. https://www.lifeisgood.com/tim , The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Timothy Bacon to support Dr. Amanda Redig’s Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift
The family is filled with gratitude to so many who supported them through Tim’s illness – their families, numerous friends, their BDP and Life is Good families, Dr. Amanda Redig, Dr. Pasi Jänne, and care takers from Concord Visiting Nurse Association -- Missy Barton, Katie Boudette, Liesl Hasenfuss, and Cora Stevens.
Tim chose to fight cancer the way he lived his life – with positive choices and courage. He loved life far more than he hated cancer and he inspired his family to make every minute meaningful.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord.
