David W King

David W. King, 88, of Connersville, died Thursday evening, August 29, 2019, in the emergency room at Reid Health Connersville. David was the son of James E. and Violet Marie Brown King, born June 13, 1931 in Connersville and graduated from Connersville High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he attained the rank of corporal while stationed primarily in Germany. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church, AMVETS and American Legion. He was an avid golfer and a founding partner of the Brook Hill Golf Club in Franklin County. David also served on the Connersville Airport Board for ten years, the Connersville Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development boards. He was the originator of NDM Corporation in Dayton and served as the president. Previously, David had been employed at REX Manufacturing, Philco and Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis. David’s commitment and devotion was to this family throughout his life. David is survived by his wife, the former Della M. Bowman, whom he married May 20, 1952 at the First United Methodist Church in Connersville; his children: Joe King and his wife, Myra; Beth King, all of Connersville; his grandsons and their wives: Dr. Christopher King and Sarah of Ft. Wayne, Eric King and Lauren of Appleton, Wisconsin; his great-granddaughters: Emma, Rachel, Audra and Alice King; his siblings and their spouses: Michael King and Leota, Kathleen Burch and Wayne, all of Connersville; Betty Woods and Larry of Rushville; several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Violet M. Whitton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Frank Oakman officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military graveside honor provided by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Foundation.
