Bobby Joe Hinson Jr., age 21, of Conover, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Bobby was born in Catawba County on September 7, 1996, to Bobby Joe Hinson and the late Mary Frances Travis Hinson.
Bobby was a fighter, he battled cystic fibrosis for his whole life. In spite of this; he still found joy in life and loved his family. He loved to work on cars and bicycles. He was known for his “MacGyver skills”. He loved spending time fishing or playing games with his friends and family. Bobby also enjoyed listening to his family as they made music outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory are fiancée Derita Conrad of Conover; father, Bobby Joe Hinson; sister, Pamela Hinson of Conover; godbrother, Bryan M. Warren of Conover; grandmother, Gail Hinson of Conover; great-grandmother, Barbara Hinson of Newton; uncles, Christopher Hinson and wife, Rhonda of Conover, Timothy Hinson and wife, Becky of Claremont, Michael Hinson of Conover; aunts, Ina Douglas and husband, Antonio of Claremont, Jessica Hinson of Conover, Kathy Matheson and husband Johnny of Morganton; and numerous cousins.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Drum Funeral Home-Conover Chapel with Rev. Ken Colman officiating. Burial will follow at Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Drum Funeral Home-Conover Chapel, prior to the service, from 4:00 to 4:45pm.
