

Born August 27, 1946 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Ira Winston Poteet and Mildred Azilee Digh Poteet. Bobby was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of American Legion Post #48 in Hickory and retired from Hickory Springs where he worked in wire drawing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lex Cletus Poteet.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 37 years, Renee Keller Poteet; children, Brian Alan Poteet of Morganton, Angela Diane Poteet of Conover, Jason Duane Sipe of Hickory, Amanda Jo Poteet Klinger and husband, Stephen Scott of Clemmons, Gregory Michael Poteet of Conover; grandchildren, Brittany Yancey, Chelsey Yancey, Devin Yancey, Cody Osborne, Amber Poteet, Kara Poteet, Hunter Poteet, Keegan Sipe, Tatum Sipe, Ethan Klinger, Brennan Klinger, Caleb Klinger; great-grandchildren, Adrian Chatman, Jaiden Chatman, Elijah Carter, Eastyn Yancey; brothers, Farrell Edward Poteet and wife, Onidean, of Morganton, Steve Poteet of Valdese; sisters-in-law, Judy Little of Conover and Tammy Steele of Seattle, WA;
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Johnson and Rev. Anton Lagoutine officiating with burial following in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Huffman, Alan Keller, Truman Walton, Rick Simmons, Stephen Klinger and Chris Poteet. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Post #48.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #48.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.
