Celesta Virginia Jones Winn, 97, went to be with her family and her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. She was born on Friday, May 14, 1926 to the late George Grover Jones and Duvall Setzer Jones.
In addition to her parents, Celesta was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Thomas Edward Winn; brother, Malcolm Jones; sisters, Lillian Setzer and Dorothy Jones; son in law, Brice Eller; and grandson, Ben Dockey; and special friend, Harry Campbell.
Celesta was an important part of her family and she loved them greatly. She was a long time member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Celesta was active in the Evening Circle and Hands at Work programs at the church. After the death of her husband, she enjoyed doing volunteer work such as rocking babies at CVMC; the reading program at Claremont Elementary; and helping at the Corner Table. Celesta went to the YMCA for over twenty years. She enjoyed water aerobics and walking. She liked to work in her garden of flowers and vegetables.
Those left to cherish Celesta’s memory are her daughters, Carolyn Dockey (Chris) and Sheila Eller; grandchildren, Scott Eller (Tericia), Jeff Eller (Heather), Kevin Eller (Kathy), Gina Willis (fiancé, Ronnie Shaffer); eleven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 3214 Catawba St, Claremont, NC 28610 from 11am to 11:45am.
A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Reverend Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
