Darrell Leroy Benfield

Born August 28,1942 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Marvin Benfield and Mittie Elmore Benfield.

Darrell worked for forty years at Clyde Fabric in Newton and was a member at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid bowler for many years in Newton, participating in many leagues as well as the Senior Olympics. Darrell made many friends through his bowling as well as through his church family.

In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Sigmon Benfield; brothers, Roger Benfield and wife Sue of Newton, David Benfield and wife Brenda of Newton, and Marshall Benfield of Newton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Conover with Rev. Brian Correll officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 20, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church.
