Born October 11, 1925 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Henry Guy and Mary Catherine Hoke Hunsucker. Ernest was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He was a life-long member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont. He retired from Patapsco and Back Rivers Railroad Company where he worked for 35 years as a Railroad Locomotive Engineer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Glenn Hunsucker and Paul William Hunsucker; and a brother-in-law, Hampton Barlow.
Survivors include his sister, Reba Barlow of China Grove; sisters-in-law, Betty Hunsucker of Charlotte, Carolyn Hunsucker of Denver; special cousin, Frances Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with military rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Conover. The Rev. Eric Hollar will officiate.
