John Harold Travis

He was born on March 14, 1939 in Catawba County to the late Robert Lawrence Travis and Betty S. Elmore Travis. Harold was a member of Catawba United Methodist Church in Catawba and Riverside Masonic Lodge # 606. He retired after 36 years from Overnite Trucking. Harold was an avid golfer, NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, and was a member of the Front Porch Gang.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William L. Travis, Ralph E. Travis, Raymond L. Travis, and Tom H. Travis; and a sister, Ina Mae Travis Sherrill.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, John Harold Travis Jr. of Statesville, NC; daughters, Kay Travis Robinette of Statesville, NC, and Kelly Travis Brown and husband, John of Harmony, NC; brother, Fred J. Travis and wife, Brenda of Catawba, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Nicholson and wife, Katelyn, Brittany Liles and husband, Ben, Travis Parsons, Taylor Parsons, Hannah Brown, Noah Brown, Lauren Travis, Aaron Travis, and Daniel Travis.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Catawba United Methodist Church, in Catawba with Rev. Stephen Shytle officiating. A graveside service with Masonic rites will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:15 p.m.
