Kathryn Elizabeth Settlemyre Settlemyre Killian

Kathryn Elizabeth Settlemyre Killian, age 100, passed away on Thursday December 29, 2016 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Born July 5, 1916 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Bradford Hill Settlemyre and Dora Maybelle Sigmon.

Kathryn was a sewer in the textile industry,and a lifetime member at Old St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Harvey Killian; brother, Clyde Settlemyre; sisters, Clara Setzer, Alva Punch, Florine Burns, Blanche Bolick, Eva Kiziah, and Ethel Little.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Harvey Killian Jr. and wife, Alice Killian of Newton; daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Lail and husband, Roy of Conover; grandchildren, Allison Sigmon, Andrew Killian, Ross Lail, and Carla Bell; great-grandchildren, Beau, Mollie and Maggie Sigmon, Collin and Chase Killian, Levi Lail; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton with Reverend Robert Sain officiating. Family will receive friends following the Service.
