

Lena Pearl Hollar Bumgarner, age 86, of Conover passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born August 7, 1928 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Guy Elcana Hollar and Malona Pearl Sigmon Hollar.
She was a long-time member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church and had worked as a seamtress in the furniture industry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Walter Monroe Bumgarner; an infant son, Kenny Lawrence Bumgarner; four brothers, Vance, G.E., Roy and Boyce Hollar.
Survivors include a son, Larry Walter Bumgarner and wife, Susan of Hickory; a daughter, Linda Abernethy and husband, Kenneth of Virginia; a brother, Fred Hollar of California; a sister, Helen Hester of Conover; grandchildren, Eric and Brian Abernethy of Virginia, Amy Moxley of Claremont and Stephanie Woosley of Hickory; and great grandchildren, Tamara, Ashton and Aiden Abernethy; Brandon and Nick Moxley and Leah Woosley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Floyd and Dorothy Bumgarner, and Marshall and Linda Bumgarner.
A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Rev. Roger Beaver will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 2:45 pm.
