Born January 30, 1926 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edna and Hoyt Matthews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband J.L. “Jake” James; brother, Jack Matthews and wife Pat; and sister, Libby Berard and husband, Bill.
Margaret is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Suzette James of Cherryville, NC, Jack and Sandy James of Conover, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Barbara Matthews of Conover, NC; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Catawba County Emergency Medical Services, 1101 South Brady Avenue, Newton, NC 28658 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
