

Martha Jane Ford Tarter, age 73, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Born April 8, 1944, in Lineville, Alabama, she was the daughter of William Clinton Ford, Jr. and the late Altha Irma Chapman Ford.
Jane worked for BB&T as a Customer Service Representative and attended Tri-City Baptist Church. She adored her grandchildren, the beach, reading, and was very strong in her faith.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Norman Tarter.
Survivors include her father, W.C. Ford, Jr. of Lineville, Alabama; daughters, Roxanne Shirley and husband, Mike of Atlanta, GA, Felicia Petersen Vansickle and husband, Sam of Howell, Michigan, Debbie Duplain-Cox and husband, John of Connelly Springs, NC; sister, Hazel Humprey and husband Bob of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Tyler Petersen, Morgan Petersen, Charlie Petersen, Mason Petersen, Hailie Vansickle, Alex Shirley, Austin Shirley, Riley Duplain and Taylor Duplain; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. The Rev. Ed Yount will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
