Wendy Hoke Cloninger, age 56, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Wendy was born in Catawba County on August 30, 1969 to Jack Hoke and Jeanne Abernathy Hoke. Grandparents Joe and Ruby Abernathy preceded her in death.
Wendy was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She worked as an administrative assistant in the medical field. She graduated from Gardner Webb.
Wendy is survived by her husband of 31 years, David Cloninger; Mother, Jeanne Abernathy Hoke; brother, Jeremy Hoke; nephews Jake and Dean Hoke; mother-in-law Christine Cloninger; sister-in-law, Christy (Kemp) Sigmon; nephews Tyler (Kelsey) Sigmon and Parker (Brooke) Sigmon; and 5 great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Wendy will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Debbie Frye officiating. A reception will be held after the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 4420 County Home Road, Conover, NC 28613.
