William Maynard Abee Jr.

William Maynard Abee, Jr. age 64, of Claremont, (known to his family and friends as Maynard), passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, July 18, 2021. He was born on October 4, 1956, in Catawba County, the son of the late William Maynard Abee, Sr. and Peggy Lois Holbrook Abee.

In addition to his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Dugger.

Maynard attended Bandys High School and was a retired auto mechanic. He loved working on cars playing his guitar in his spare time. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to help any of them if they had a need. He will be remembered for his generous heart.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Nathan Abee and his children, James Matthew Abee and Heather Christine Punch; along with nieces, a nephew, and cousins.

A service to celebrate Maynard’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Conover, with Rev. William L. Kanupp officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery in Catawba.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
