A memorial service will be held Friday, June19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home.
Ann was born March 29, 1941 to Quincy and Lena Valerie Morris in Dallas, Texas. She was a Master Gardener and a gourmet cook and loved to set a beautiful table for everyone to gather and celebrate. She had a natural eye for decorating and loved nesting in her beautiful home. Ann was an outstanding cook and landscape gardener. She collected salt and pepper shakers, cookbooks and Sabino art glass. She was an avid book reader and a member of the Barbara Bush Library reading group.
Ann was also an African Violet grower and a member of the Tomball African Violet club, The Houston African Violet Study Club and the National African Violet Associations (AVSA). She served on the AVSA national convention committee and was the committee chairperson from 1994 to 1999. Ann was also a certified African Violet National Judge certified to judge all AVSA African Violet conventions.
Ann had a strong interest in quilting and made many wall hanging quilts, and enjoyed attending local quilting bees. She and her daughter, Kay, designed, pieced and quilted the Anderson Family Quilt that included squares of her mother's 7 brothers and sisters and her grandparents. She enjoyed visiting quilt stores, shows around America, and buying lots and lots of fabric.
Ann obtained her LVN license from Tyler Junior College and later received her RN from Texas School of Nursing in Tyler Texas. She was an ER nurse in Palestine and became an ER/ICU shift supervisor. In later years she worked for KSF Orthopedics for more than 25 years as a certified orthopedic nurse.
Ann and her husband, Ron, enjoyed large family gatherings, traveling and seeing the world. She made every holiday special. In her last days and moments, she waited for Ron to lie down beside her and hold her hand, before falling asleep each night.
Ann was diagnosed with Lupus in 1988 and went into remission in the mid '90's for over 10 years. The last few years were very painful and now she is resting in peace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Larry Don Morris. Ann is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ronald; children, Gary Abbott and wife JaNan, Dana Kay George and husband Danny, Donna Abbott, and Rusty Abbott, grandchildren, Joshua Kent Abbott and wife Michelle, Hollie McGee and husband Brian, Erin Curry, Dana Jo Carter and husband Clay, Rachel Bills, Garret Bills, Cody Abbott and wife Shaliese, and Casey Abbott and wife Heather, 11 Great Grandchildren, brother Quincy “Newt” Morris and wife Iris, sister-in-law, Kathy Morris, and brother-in-law Dennis Miller and wife Joanie and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
