Ben F. Hughes, Sr., age 100, was born March 18, 1911 in Cleburne, Texas. He was a devoted husband, beloved father and a faithful friend. He was preceded in death by his soul mate of 68 years, Mable “Shug” Rodgers Hughes, and a son, Jimmy Wayne Hughes. Ben is survived by sons, Ben Hughes Jr. and wife Judy of Conroe and Scott Hughes and wife Cathy of Spring; seven (7) grandchildren, Benjamin Hughes III and wife Eunhee of Seoul, South Korea; Amy Hughes Fedosky and husband Keane of Rowlett; Jeffrey Rodgers Hughes and wife Maria of London, U.K.; Jodie Hughes Austin and husband Matt of Denver; Andy Hughes of Houston; Kari Hughes Young and husband Peter of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Simeon Hughes and wife Melissa of Houston; thirteen (13) great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Madie Rogers Jones of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben spent most of his life in Beaumont where he raised three children, was chief engineer of Radio Station KTRM, and was an active member of the Ridgewood Church. He moved to Conroe in 2002. Death came quietly and peacefully on May 24, 2011. He will be missed by all who knew him.
