Born on March 25, 1963, and raised in El Salvador, Betsy carried her heritage with pride throughout her life. In her younger years, she was an accomplished fencer and competed on her high school fencing team. After high school, she moved to New York City, where she began her college education, later moved to New Mexico, earning her bachelor’s degree from the College of Santa Fe before moving to Texas.
Betsy dedicated many years of faithful service to PNM (Powering New Mexico) and Lone Star College, retiring from the latter's Accounting Department. Her steady commitment and dependable presence left a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel Vasquez and Rosa Cortez. She is survived by her brother Miguel Vasquez and wife Deidre of Conroe, Tx; her sister Vania Taylor of Albuquerque, NM; her nephew Parker Vasquez of Conroe, TX; her aunts Julia Barquero of Tampa FL, Ana Vasquez of El Salvador, and Miriam Alas of El Salvador; her uncle Armando Vasquez of Tampa, FL; and her very close cousins Medad Cea, Oscar Cea, Carlos Cea, Alvaro Rivera, Diana Rosado, Carolina Alas, and Daniel Alas.
Betsy found her greatest joy in time spent with family and friends. She loved traveling overseas to various countries and cherished being at the beach. She also adored her precious Yorkie, Danielita, and especially enjoyed spoiling her nephew Parker.
A devoted member of Gateway Baptist Church in Spring, Texas, Betsy’s faith and fellowship were important parts of her life and a source of strength to those around her.
Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, US, on March 13, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, US, on March 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Betsy will be laid to rest in El Salvador.
