Betty H. Gamel

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM October 28th, 2022 at Cashner Funeral Home with the Dr. Jeff Berger, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Conroe, officiating. Visitation at 1 PM and burial to follow at Garden Park Cemetery adjacent to the funeral home. Arrangements are by Cashner Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas.

Betty was born in Crestview Florida to Herrin Hampton and Flora Estelle Hagood on February 10th 1931. She was a graduate of Coffee County High School and Stetson University in Deland Florida. She was a member of Phi Mu sorority and Beta Sigma Phi. She taught elementary school prior to her marriage. She married Wendell Wesley Gamel on December 20th 1955 in Crestview Florida.

Betty is the last survivor of her six siblings. She is preceded in death by her husband Wendell, parents Herrin and Flora Hagood, sister Nell Hagood, brother Tom Hagood, brother Herrin Hagood, brother Charles Scott Hagood, sister Ann Hagood Weatherly and sister Cynthia Jane Hagood Pinder.

Betty is survived by son Dan and Deborah Gamel of Katy Texas, son Keith and Laurie Gamel of Austin Texas, daughter Rebecca and husband Charles Mueller of Ridgway Colorado, grandchildren Jill Wegner, Travis Gamel, Bethany Simmons, Kristin Gamel, Kelsey Gamel, Will Mueller, Jonathan Gamel, Meridith Coulter, Kirby Gamel, Mackenzie Gamel, Trent Gamel and Elizabeth Mueller; great grandchildren Ada Wegner, Cora Wegner, Maggie Simmons, Miles Wegner, Emily Simmons, Maeson Coulter, Rocky Mueller and John Simmons and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Conroe. The family of Betty Gamel wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Always Best Care and Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Betty in the last two years of her life.
