Betty Jean Woods

Betty was born on March 21, 1937 in Dacus, Texas to Walter Hyde and Vivian Perry Hyde. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Montgomery High School. After high school she married Marion E. Woods in Highlands, Texas on July 23, 1955 and the couple resided in Crosby, Texas with their three sons. Betty was an R.N. for 44 years and retired from Huntsville Memorial Hospital. After retirement, Betty and Marion E. moved back to Trinity, Texas where they lived until Marion’s passing in 2009. Betty was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star of Trinity, Texas. She enjoyed making crafts and giving them away to family and friends and had a talent for painting, sewing and crocheting.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Marion E. Woods, Father Walter Hyde, Mother Vivian Hyde and her infant son Kenneth Woods. She is survived by her brother Bobby Hyde and wife Barbara, sister Jo Ann Thomas, sister Geraldine Gorney and husband Joe, sons Michael Woods, Darrell Woods and wife Hyo and Walter Dale Woods, grandchildren Dana Deragon and husband Matt, Jason Woods and wife Nazak, Josh Woods and wife Ari, Chris Woods and Tristen Woods and wife Lana, great-granddaughters Elah, Sophia, Leila, and Keira, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Betty’s neighbors, especially Dawn and Rhonda for their help and care of Betty.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24th at 9:30 A.M. at McAdams Chapel with a funeral to follow at 10:30 A.M. Pallbearers are Jason Woods, Josh Woods, Tristen Woods, Chris Prough, Devan Lout and Seth Wolfson. Burial will follow at McAdams Cemetery.
