Betty Wischnewsky, age 96, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2025, passing gently in her sleep.
Betty was born on April 27, 1929, in Dobbin, Texas, to Jack and Magdeline Hoffart, the second oldest of six children. This spirited young woman would go on to prove that the most powerful forces often come in the smallest packages.
She married the love of her life, William Wischnewsky, in Plantersville, Texas on August 23, 1946. Together, Betty and "Bill" built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and their seven children. While running their wholesale supply store, Bill's Wholesale, until retirement, they created a legacy of love that would span generations.
Betty was a devout Christian who dedicated her entire life to her family. Her faith was the cornerstone of everything she did, and at just 4 feet 11 inches tall, "Little Grandma" possessed immense strength and love that touched everyone she met. Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a mother to her 7 children, grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 22, and great-great-grandmother to 2.
Though Betty faced the heartbreak of losing her husband William, three children William Jr. Wischnewsky, Elizabeth Wischnewsky, and Wanda Morley, and three precious grandchildren Robert Lowery, Wendy Simpson, and Kim Simpson, her unwavering faith sustained her through every trial. She is survived by her dear brother Ted Hoffart; children Robert & Cindy Lowery, James & Yvonne Yaggi, David & Cynthia Wischnewsky, and Jesus & Pam Davila; 9 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Betty's hands were always busy—cooking, crocheting, gardening, and caring for others. Her kitchen was the heart of every Thanksgiving and Christmas, and her beautiful crocheted blankets became her signature gift to each family member, tangible pieces of love with every stitch. The family home on Spears Road became legendary for her delicious homemade pickles, acres of land for children to explore under towering pecan trees, and those epic Wischnewsky family gatherings that created memories lasting lifetimes.
Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, and friend.
