Billy Ray “B. R. or Wild Bill” Clark was born on December 28, 1930, to Jim and Velma (Hodges) Clark in Timpson, TX. He grew up and attended school in Conroe, TX. His self-proclaimed nickname “Wild Bill” was quite accurate to say the least. He had a quick wit, a winning smile and outstanding sense of humor. While Bill was in high school he was a star Conroe Tiger excelling in football and track and field. He continued his academic career at Navarro College until he answered our nations call to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a true leader and a tough Drill Sergeant receiving the Bronze Star and many other service related medals. As the war ended, Bill returned home to work in the Conroe Oilfield where he had worked summers for Superior Oil company and then to join his father Jim "Red" Clark working for the Moran family Oil & Gas operation. He continued his career and moved onto bigger rigs and more challenging work in South Texas in a career that spanned over 30 years. Bill was Drilling Superintendent for Richards Drilling when he retired early during the oil downturn in the 80's. He came home to Conroe to begin his business career with his son at Clark's Country Stores in Grangerland. He retired again in the mid 90's to enjoy fun times fishing and hunting but his real passions where playing dominoes, a friendly poker game and growing a monster garden with watermelons weighing as much as 80 lbs. Bill was an only child that was surrounded by love his whole life though it was filled with a lot of tough times and tribulations, being born during the Great Depression, then grew up to fight a war followed by a life of hard work, Bill Clark was self-made man. About 25 years ago his family was called in to be told he would not survive following a massive stroke. Wild Bill had other plans and he enjoyed a full and productive life until Tuesday at the age of 86 when he passed peacefully from this earth to join his loved ones in Heaven. Bill knew God but not in the conventional sense by going to church every Sunday. He knew that GOD is everywhere, with us every day and we know that he is in heaven above where we will see him again.
He is survived by his son, Jim Clark & wife Kelly; Granddaughter Taylor Morris & husband Justin, his 3 Great Grandchildren Levi, Addison & Kasidee Morris.
